Caroline Cottage is a lovely cosy stone cottage built in 1813 overlooking the village green. It is situated in the quaint village of Romaldkirk near Barnard Castle in the heart of the picturesque area of Teesdale in the Durham dales.
The small village of Romaldkirk is home to two public houses, a minutes walk from Caroline Cottage, one serving food to award winning standards and both offering a selection of fine ales. Just across the road you will find the stunning church of St Romald better known as the “Cathedral of the Dales“.
Teesdale is a walkers and cyclists paradise with many of the best routes starting from Romaldkirk itself. The cottage is also ideally located to visit England’s highest waterfall , High Force. Situated in the North Pennines only 10 miles away, it is a spectacular sight to see the River Tees suddenly drop 21 metres over the Whin Sill in to a plunge pool below. Romaldkirk is also an ideal location to visit other great attractions including the Bowes Museum, Raby Castle, Richmond, Barnard Castle, Durham and Hamsterley Forest.
